Three years ago, my father got lung cancer and stayed at National Taiwan University Hospital. At that time I started looking for some natural medicine to help my father heal. I started to research about Ayurveda, which is an ancient form of Indian medicine, about foods and oils, about Yoga, and about metal therapies.

Life is knowledge. All you have to do is believe in yourself and you will have a better understanding of life.  My father was a successful businessman, he made a lot of business deals. When he discovered he had lung cancer, he lost his will to live and lay down in bed. He was no longer like the image of a strong man, everyday he was getting weaker and weaker. I try convinced all my family members that we should change my father’s diet, try to give him more organic vegetables.  My family tried for a while, but my mother did not believe in the healing powers of  organic  food, she continued doing what she thought it was good for my father. Finally, my father  died one year ago.

My father was the best teacher for my spirit. He gave me the knowledge needed to deal with life, which is something that can’t be learned from books. One needs to experience it with one’s own eyes and heart. One must learn to accept death as a part of the circle of life and not as something negative. When we are born we come to this world with nothing, and when we die we leave with nothing.  God gives everyone the same path, we cannot change it. Therefore,  we need courage to deal with dead.  People always want to remember only the good, happy moments instead of the bad, sad ones. But how can you appreciate the happy moments of life if you don’t go thought some tough times?

The concepts found in Ayurveda are similar to those found in the Buddhist philosophy, to have a healthy body, one needs first a healthy mental life. Ayurveda believes in re-encarnation, we are born, we die, we reborn, and we die again……. it is the circle of the life, so what should we be afraid ? Once we know the truth, we can open our hearts to accept it and take it in as it is.

Yoga is only one tool to reach a healthy life. Some people only focus on Asana practice, losing connection with other aspects of the life.  If you you had a  fight with your husband or boyfriend right before a Yoga class, regardless in you finish the class or not, do you think you can reach a peaceful mind??????  Why don’t you try to not have a fight in the first place, try to stop the negative emotions before your anger raises. The best way is to ask yourself “where are our problems?” Try opening your heart to listen your husband’s or boyfriend’s problems, find a middle ground, instead of just “me,me and me”……..

Backbends are a good training to open your chest and therefore your heart. One needs to combine Yoga with a healty life style… I really want to share my experience with Yoga with everyone.

At the same time, I would like to thank my teachers, Sharon Moon, Russell, & Sally for guiding me through the right path of Yoga.

NAMASTE!
